1. Why do we have a Cookie Policy?

Your privacy is a priority for Credendo – Export Credit Agency and all its subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to as ‘Credendo’ or ‘we’). Credendo undertakes to protect the personal data of its online users (hereinafter referred to as ‘you’) which are collected through cookies, tags, tracers and similar technology (hereinafter referred to generally as ‘cookies’). We process such data with the greatest care.

In this Cookie Policy, Credendo wants to provide you with clear information about how and why we use and store cookies and what you can do to refuse, delete or restrict the use of cookies on your computer, smartphone and all other devices used to access the internet (hereinafter referred to as ‘device(s)’).

2. What is a cookie?

Cookies are small text files, containing certain pieces of information that are downloaded onto the user’s device when visiting a website. Cookies are created when a user's browser loads a particular website. The website sends information to the browser, which then creates a text file. Every time the user goes back to the same website, the browser retrieves and sends this file to the website's server.

Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device and often improve the user experience. For example, certain cookies will remember which browser you use, your settings and preferences such as language and region, when you return to the website.

There are primarily two types of cookies: ‘essential’ cookies and ‘non-essential’ cookies, such as functional cookies, performance cookies and advertising cookies.

  • Essential cookies are cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to function. They allow the user to browse the website and to use its main features.
  • Functional cookies are cookies that allow the website to improve user experience but they are not essential for it to function.
  • Performance cookies record user information for websites and apps at a non-personal level and are used to collect analytical and performance measurement data, such as the number of visitors and which pages are visited most frequently. These cookies include Google Analytics.
  • Targeting or advertising cookies are used to collect information about the user’s browsing habits and can be used to adjust advertising and marketing.

Cookies can be classified according to how long they are valid.

Persistent or permanent cookies remain after the session is closed. They are kept on the user’s hard drive until they expire (persistent cookies have an expiry date) or until the user deletes the cookies. Persistent cookies are used to collect identification data relating to the user, such as their behaviour while browsing the internet or their preferences for a specific website.

Session cookies only last as long as the session (the time spent on the website) lasts. They are deleted when the user closes the browser.

Cookies can also be classified according to their placement.

First-party cookies belong to the owner of the website the user is visiting.

Third-party cookies are cookies connected with the activity of third parties. They are imported from another site, the content of which is accessible indirectly, for example via an image or a banner. These cookies can be used by these third parties to provide the owner of the website with services based on information such as the number of visitors and which pages are visited most frequently, allowing the owner to optimise the website.

3. How can you consent to cookies or change your preferences?

Placing cookies on your device is subject to your prior consent. You can consent to cookies by means of the cookie consent notice (or ‘cookie bar’) at the centre of the page.

In this cookie bar, you will find the list of our partners and purposes for which cookies can be placed. You can select individual partners and purposes or you can choose to allow or deny cookies for all partners and purposes, except for essential cookies.

If you don’t see the consent notice, this means you already consented in a previous session. You can update your consent preferences at any time through the link ‘Cookie preferences’ at the bottom of each page of the website.

When new partners are added, your consent will be asked again.

4. Which third-party cookies do we use?

We use or allow third parties such as Google, YouTube, Hotjar, Leadfeeder, Pardot and LinkedIn to use cookies that fall within the categories described above. These third-party analysis cookies help us to evaluate the traffic on our website, but they also help us in our market research, to improve site features, etc.

These third-party providers may store additional cookies on your device, which we have no control over. In addition, the third-party providers might use the data stored in the related cookies for their own processing purposes, which again we have no control over.

Because the use of social media pages is governed by the conditions of the social media platforms (including the privacy policy), we strongly recommend that you check the websites of any such third parties and their privacy policies for more information about their cookies and how to manage them.
