Sustainable: John Cockerill project supported by Credendo Green Package

In July 2023, Credendo – Export Credit Agency supported Belgian exporter John Cockerill to make important investments in the hydrogen sector, both in Belgium and abroad.

Its subsidiary John Cockerill Hydrogen is a leading manufacturer of electrolysers, which are pieces of equipment used to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen. When powered by renewable energy, they enable the production of green hydrogen. This is expected to play a key role towards the decarbonation of several sectors under the Net Zero Emissions by 2050 scenario.

In this context, John Cockerill has called upon Credendo to unlock part of the funding needed to further expand its electrolysers producing capacity.

Through the Credendo Green Package, Credendo offers incentives aiming to support projects and companies that have a positive impact on the environment, with a view to strengthening sustainable transition. These incentives made it possible for Credendo to increase the covered percentage of its Financial Guarantee solution offered to John Cockerill’s banks, allowing the company to obtain extra funding.  

The transaction was a great opportunity for Credendo to collaborate with its long-standing client John Cockerill on the road towards our economy’s decarbonation.
