Policy for the BalWin/LanWin project by Jan De Nul
In March, Credendo issued a policy for cable-laying works by Jan De Nul for two 525 HVDC cable systems, involving two grid connections known as BalWin4 and LanWin1 that serve offshore wind projects in the German North Sea.
Jan De Nul is part of a consortium of three that signed a contract with TenneT for the design, manufacturing, transport, installation, protection and testing of the two cables, and the former will take care of the transport, installation, burial and protection of the offshore cables. To achieve this, the company will use a variety of its own specialised vessels and assets including the Fleeming Jenkin, its new XL cable-laying vessel. The consortium partners will then design, manufacture, terminate and test all cables and perform the onshore civil engineering and cable pulling requirements.
Given that Jan De Nul will contribute to the development of the offshore wind farms by connecting them to the shore, the company can take advantage of an increased covered percentage of 98%, as part of the Credendo Green Package incentives.
