Credendo Green Package to support a greater variety of sustainable sectors
In July 2022, Credendo – Export Credit Agency granted the Credendo Green Package for the first time. This series of incentives is aimed at encouraging sustainable export transactions with a view to supporting the climate and ecological transition. Today, Credendo is willing to promote a greater variety of sustainable sectors and increase the proportion of green transactions in its portfolio.
In 2023, 28 transactions benefited from the Credendo Green Package, representing cover for a total amount of EUR 1.33 billion. The granted incentives included an increased percentage of cover at 98%, more flexibility regarding the Belgian content of the project and a participation in financial guarantees up to 80%. The transactions related to the wind, solar, hydrogen, biomass and geothermal energy sectors.
Any application for the Credendo Green Package is checked by Credendo based on well-defined eligibility criteria. In that respect, it is interesting to note that Credendo received applications that were eligible for the Credendo Green Package – but for which the incentives were finally not applied, for various reasons, such as the loss of the tender on the part of the client – which amounted to a total of more than EUR 240 million. This shows that sustainable transaction projects are manyfold and cover an even wider range of sectors, such as water, waste management, energy optimisation, etc.
It is interesting to note that the Credendo Green Package is already supporting projects around the world.
